Elisabet van Randenborgh

Elisabet van Randenborgh (born December 26, 1893 in Bielefeld as Elisabeth Luise Juliane Sophie Riemeier ; † May 25, 1983 there ) was a German writer .

Life

Elisabet Riemeier was the daughter of a businessman. She attended the Ceciliengymnasium in Bielefeld , where she passed the final exam in 1914. She then studied philology and theology at the universities of Bonn , Münster and Munich . 1919 doctorate it to the University of Munich with a religious-philosophical work for doctor of philosophy and then continued her studies at the University of Goettingen away. In 1923 she married the Lic.theol. Gottfried van Randenborgh (*  September 24, 1894 ; † September 5, 1964 ), who worked as a Protestant pastor in Iserlohn and after the war held the office of senior church councilor in Bielefeld . From 1949 the family resided in Bielefeld, where Elisabet von Randenborgh lived until her death. The city of Bielefeld honored the writer in 1990 with the “Van-Randenborgh-Weg” near the Kesselbrink .

Elisabet van Randenborgh was the author of novels , short stories and plays , predominantly with Christian, sometimes also autobiographical subjects; the total circulation of her works exceeded the million mark.

Spiritual folk song

In 1922 Elisabet van Randenborgh composed the hymn " Sun shines in your corridors ", which was included in the Rhenish-Westphalian edition of the German Evangelical Hymnbook (DEG) under number 56 in the appendix "Spiritual folk songs" . It was not included in the Evangelical Hymnbook (EG) introduced in 1969 .
