Elżbieta Chojnacka (born September 10, 1939 in Warsaw , † May 28, 2017 in Paris ) was a Polish harpsichordist and music teacher.

Chojnacka studied first at the Music Academy in Warsaw and then with Aimée van de many in Paris, where she settled permanently. In 1968 she won first prize in the field of harpsichord at the international competition in Vercelli. She has performed worldwide as a soloist and with orchestras such as the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra , the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Orchester de la Suisse Romande , has participated in festivals and has appeared on radio and television.

Her repertoire included both baroque harpsichord music and that of contemporary composers. Composers such as Iannis Xenakis , Ligeti , François-Bernard Mâche , Jean-Claude Risset , Maurice Ohana , Paweł Szymański , Henryk Górecki , Michael Nyman , Włodzimierz Kotoński , Zygmunt Krauze , Jerzy Kornowicz , Krzysztof Knittel , Hanna Kulety , Paweł Mykietyn , Franco Donatoni , Sylvano Bussotti , Martial Solal , Sofia Gubaidulina , Toshi Ichiyanagi and Cristóbal Halffter wrote works for them. Her numerous albums include a complete recording of the harpsichord work Ligetis and Ohanes and a recording of Gorecki's Little Requiem.

She has worked with ensembles for new music such as Ars Nova , Domaine Musical , 2e2m , Itinéraire , the Asko Ensemble and The London Sinfonietta as well as with the choreographer Lucinda Childs and has performed in a duo with the organist Xavier Daras and the percussionist Sylvio Gualda . In 1983 she won the SACEM Prize for the Interpretation of New French Music, in 1999 she received the Order of the French Legion of Honor , in 2000 the Orpheus for the best performance of a work by a Polish composer at the Warsaw Autumn , the Tasman Prize in 2008 and the Polish Prize in 2009 Composers' Association and the Gloria Artis Medal for cultural merit .

In addition, Chojacket gave master classes and in 1995 became professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where she created a class for the interpretation of contemporary harpsichord music.
