Zygmunt Krauze

Zygmunt Krauze (born September 19, 1938 in Warsaw ) is a Polish composer and pianist.

Act

Krauze studied piano with Maria Wiłkomirska and composition with Kazimierz Sikorski at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. 1966–1967, thanks to a grant from the French government, he studied in Paris with Nadia Boulanger .

Krauze made his debut as a soloist in 1963. In 1967 he founded “Warsztat Muzyczny” (Musical Workshop) and performed with the group for 20 years. Krauze has also appeared as a soloist with many orchestras and conductors, such as Gary Bertini , Jan Krenz , Leif Segerstam , Kazimierz Kord , Kazuyoshi Akiyama , Bohdan Wodiczko , Paul Zukofsky , Ernest Bour , Hans Zender , Jerzy Maksymiuk and Luca Pfaff .

1974–1975 he lived in Berlin on a DAAD scholarship . In 1982, at the invitation of Pierre Boulez , he worked at IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique - Research Institute for Acoustics / Music) in Paris .

He has given lectures in many cities in Europe ( Darmstadt , Basel , Stockholm ), in the USA at Indiana University in Bloomington, Yale University in New Heaven, Cornell University in Ithaca, University of Southern California in Santa Barbara, as well as in Japan ( Tokyo , Osaka , Kobe ), Israel and Hong Kong .

In 1996 he was appointed Eminent Corresponding Professor at Keimiung University ( Taegu , South Korea ).

In 2002 he became professor of composition at the Music Academy in Łódź and in 2006 at the Fryderyk Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw .

At the congress of the International Society for New Music (ISCM) in Frankfurt in 1977 he was elected President, and in 1999 its honorary member.

In 2007 he became an officer of the French Legion of Honor .
