Elisabeth Czihak
Elisabeth Czihak (* 1966 in Tübingen ) is an Austria ical visual artist . She has lived in Vienna since 2000.
life and work
Czihak grew up in Salzburg , where she attended the Musisches Gymnasium . From 1985 to 1991 she studied ceramics at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz and then from 1991 to 1992 sculpture with Lothar Fischer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin .
She began her artistic work with sculptures and later transferred her strong interest in three-dimensionality to drawings and photographs, whereby the space as a whole, its effect and how it is influenced is essential to her.
Since 1989 she can refer to numerous solo and group exhibitions in the areas of drawing , photography , object and installation .
In 2003 and 2005 she taught as assistant to Judy Fox and 2007 to Wang Fu at the International Summer Academy for Fine Arts in Salzburg.
The artist is a member of the IG Bildende Kunst , the Upper Austrian Art Association (since 1998, also on the board since 2008) and the Salzburg Art Association (since 2002).
Elisabeth Czihak has received several awards for her work. In 1999 she won first prize at the first International Biennale for Ceramic Sculpture in Kapfenberg and in 2000 she received the talent promotion award of the state of Upper Austria. In 2007 and 2008 she worked in Paris and Warsaw with the help of studio grants from the State of Salzburg.
