Elisabeth Fabritius

Elisabeth Fabritius (born June 2, 1945 in Frederiksberg ) is a Danish art historian who is particularly dedicated to researching the Skagen painters Anna and Michael Ancher .

Life

Fabritius is the daughter of the genealogist and historian Albert Fabritius (May 17, 1905 - March 14, 1976) and his wife Karen (née Haarløv, ⚭ June 24, 1944, June 14, 1908 - September 14, 1979). From 1963 to 1964, she studied French culture, language and art history at the University of Nancy. In 1967 she took a correspondence exam at Handelshøjskole in Copenhagen and studied art history with a focus on neoclassical architecture at the University of Copenhagen until 1974 . Her publications include the volume Skagen i gamle fotografier (Skagen in old photographs), which she published in 1962 together with Jan Zibrandtsen. From 1965 to 1972 she worked as a student assistant on several catalogs and museum guides for the Statens Museum for Kunst . She was also involved in documentaries on radio and television. Fabritius has contributed to well-known biographical encyclopedias, including for the 3rd edition of Dansk biografisk leksikon ( Den Store Danske Encyklopædi ) or for Dansk Kvindebiografisk Leksikon . From 1989 to 1997 she was archive manager of the 4th edition of Weilbach's artist lexicon . She has been a freelance senior researcher, curator and editor since 1998.

From 2005 to 2017 she worked at the Danish Royal Library ( Danish Det Kongelige Bibliotek ). She has been a consultant for the Skagen Art Museum since 2014 . Before that she was the artistic director of the “Michael & Anna Anchers Hus” museum.

Fabritius was married to the documentary filmmaker Jesper Tvede (1920-2000). The couple have a daughter, Edith Ursula.
