Elisabeth (Else) Hattemer , b. Hemmes (born January 9, 1870 in Bensheim , † December 19, 1948 in Viernheim ) was a Hessian politician ( center ) and member of the Hessian state parliament .

Else Hattemer was the daughter of the teacher and later director of the Bensheim Grand Ducal Deaf- Mute Institute Wilhelm Hemmes , who was born on March 14, 1840 in Gau-Algesheim , Rhineland-Hesse. submitted.

After finishing school, Else Hattemer trained as a high school teacher and taught English and French in Vallendar and Cologne. She had four children with the high school professor Karl Hattemer (1869-1913), whose ancestors also came from Gau-Algesheim.

Else Hattemer was a member of the Center Party of Hesse . In all 6 electoral periods from 1919 to 1933 she was elected member of the state parliament for the center. Besides her, only 4 other MPs could demonstrate this continuity of parliamentary work. She was the only female member of the center and only one of 12 female members in the Hessian state parliament of the Weimar Republic .

Her subjects in the state parliament were women's and cultural policy. She was a member of the administrative board of the Landestheater. In women's politics, she was committed to girls' education and social welfare.
