Elisabeth Maria Post (born November 22, 1755 in Utrecht , † July 3, 1812 in Epe ) was a Dutch writer and translator.
Life
Elisabeth Maria Post was born in Utrecht as the sixth child of the sugar manufacturer Evert Post (1719–1787) and his wife Johanna Maria van Romondt (1724–1792). After their father's factory went bankrupt in 1768, the family moved to Emminkhuizen near Renswoude . In 1774 the family's financial situation improved after the father became Drost in Amerongen and the family moved into the Drostehaus. After her father's death in 1787, Elisabeth moved with her mother and two sisters to Arnhem to live with her brother. In 1792, after the death of her mother, Elisabeth moved to Velp with her eldest sister Adriana Maria . In 1794 she met Justus Lodewijk Overdorp, a pastor eight years her junior, whom she married on July 23, 1794 in Velp. In 1807 she moved with her husband to Epe where, after a long illness, she died on July 3, 1812.
