Elisabeth Meylan

Elisabeth Meylan (* 14. June 1937 in Basel as Elisabeth Bartlin ) is a Swiss writer .

Life

Elisabeth Meylan completed her studies in German and Romance studies at the University of Basel after attending a girls' high school and a arts and crafts school , from which she graduated in 1968 with a doctorate . She then worked as a teacher, publishing editor and magazine editor . In 1981 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . Since 1987 she has lived as a freelance writer in Basel.

Elisabeth Meylan is the author of prose works and poems . She is a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Schiller Foundation from 1981 to 1996 .
