Elise Bauman (born October 23, 1990 in Kitchener , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress . She is known for her role as Laura Hollis , the main character from the popular LGBT - web series Carmilla .

Career

Bauman was a professional at the theater from a very young age.

In 2009 she moved to New York City to study there. In the metropolis she attended the Circle in the Square Theater School . In the school play The Cherry Orchard she played Anya on the Broadway stage of the Circle in the Square theater . In the fall she appeared again in the theater, in The Skriker by Caryl Churchill . Bauman received good reviews for this.

In 2016 she starred in the film Almost Adults , directed by Sarah Rotella.

Carmilla

Bauman is best known for her role as Laura Hollis, an uninhibited and idiosyncratic main character in the Canadian web series Carmilla . Carmilla is based on the gothic novel of the same name by Sheridan Le Fanu . The series is best known for its LGBT characters and has been viewed over 35 million times on the Vervegirl (later renamed KindaTV) YouTube channel, with over 150,000 subscribers worldwide.

Private life

Bauman mostly received home schooling, but he still went to secondary school. Bauman currently lives in Toronto, where she studies with Shaun Benson and David Sutcliffe .

In 2015 Bauman was ranked 9th on AfterEllen's Hot 100 List .

In 2017, Bauman stated in an interview that she identified as bisexual. Until then, she had never said this out loud because she didn't want a big coming out. If someone asked her, however, she answered it truthfully before.
