Elke Zimmer (born May 24, 1966 in Sindelfingen ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). She has been a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament since December 12, 2016 .

Life and politics

Elke Zimmer has lived in Mannheim since 1990 . In the Mannheim district of Neckarau she was a district adviser for 9 years before she was elected to the Mannheim municipal council in 2014. There she is spokeswoman for the Greens parliamentary group for social affairs , one world and demographic change . On December 12, 2016, she replaced the late Wolfgang Raufelder in the state parliament. She is a member of the Committee for Culture, Youth and Sport and the Committee for Transport.

Study and job

Elke Zimmer trained as a bank clerk and later worked as a qualified commercial teacher at vocational schools . Elke Zimmer studied economics at the University of Hohenheim from 1987 to 1989 and business education at the University of Mannheim and in Kingston (GB) from 1989 to 1992 . From 1993 to 1995 she worked in the preparatory service for teaching at vocational schools in Bruchsal and from 1995 to 1998 as a study assistant at the Walter-Eucken- School in Karlsruhe . From 1998 to 2003 she was on parental leave. From 2003 to 2016 she taught at the International Association of Mannheim. Since 2013 she has been a lecturer at the fashion and graphic design school Manuel Fritz , Mannheim.
