The village stream, which collects groundwater and rainwater from the Kaalebur , used to run through the town in a canalised manner under the main road. After a severe flood in 1998, the stream was exposed again in parts and led through a newly created pond. It flows into the Attert .

The Center Camille Ney cultural center is particularly available to the currently fourteen associations .

On June 17, 2001, the refurbished organ, expanded by 15 stops, was inaugurated in a solemn ceremony in the parish church of Ell.

Ell probably got its name from a water castle that was surrounded by water like an island (Celtic: El).

Cercle de Colpach

Kolpach Castle, a manor house with a domain of 30 hectares, built directly on the Belgian border in 1747, was acquired by ARBED director Emile Mayrisch and later bequeathed to the Luxembourg Red Cross by his wife Aline Mayrisch . In the years before the German handover of power to the National Socialists, annual discussions between humanities scholars, politicians and economists about the future of Europe, especially Western Europe, took place here in a kind of salon on the basis of a Franco-German understanding . This also included participants from other nations. Aline Mayrisch's discussion partners included B. Paul Claudel , Jean Guéhenno , Jacques Rivière , Karl Jaspers , André Gide , Jean Schlumberger , Ernst Robert Curtius , Annette Kolb , Walter Rathenau , Marie Delcourt and Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi , Bernhard Groethuysen and many others.

In 2002 the house was recognized as a national monument. It housed a convalescent home, but is currently not used for this, as the building no longer meets the standards and therefore needs to be renovated. The convalescent home is currently housed in a modern building in the neighborhood.

A Franco-German study committee that Mayrisch's husband Émile Mayrisch founded and shaped until his death in 1928 should not be confused with the Cercle. It was mostly concerned with economic issues, while the Cercle worked culturally.
