Vichten ( Luxembourgish Viichten ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and belongs to the canton of Redingen .

The municipality consists of the localities Vichten and Michelbouch.
Historical finds
At the beginning of the 1990s, in addition to Roman wall paintings, a Roman mosaic was discovered in Vichten , on which Homer can be seen in the circle of the nine muses . The arrangement of the muses is star-shaped and corresponds to the order established by Hesiod . The depiction of Urania , which apparently has an early globe next to it, is particularly interesting .
The multicolored mosaic from 240 AD with an area of 61.3 m² was probably made in Trier and served as floor decoration in a Gallo-Roman manor; a copy of this mosaic can be viewed in Vichten. The original is in the Musée national d'Histoire et d'Art in Luxembourg . Further traces of the Roman settlement of Vichten exist in some Roman capitals that were built into the bell tower of the church.
