Ella Ensink
Ella Ensink (born December 18, 1897 in Berlin ; † October 31, 1968 ) was a German film editor for Reich German film and at DEFA , with occasional trips to directing documentaries .
life and work
Ensink was hired by Erich Pommer in the early days of talkies after completing her training . Initially still employed in sound editing, the Berliner quickly switched to film editing . From 1932 she worked as an editor for feature films . Initially working for Ondra-Lamac-Film GmbH, she later also worked for larger companies such as Bavaria and above all Tobis .
After the war, Ella Ensink worked as an editor at Deutsche Film AG (DEFA) from its founding in 1946, where she was primarily employed in the documentary film sector. Ensink edited an abundance of propaganda short films, several of which she directed. Before 1949 she was also an editor for the East German newsreel Der Augenzeuge . Ella Ensink was awarded the Heinrich Greif Prize in 1951 for her work there .
Her son was the documentary filmmaker Bruno Kleberg .
