The Ellen Glacier is a large glacier in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It flows from the eastern slopes of Mount Anderson and the Long Gables in a south-easterly direction to the ridge of Barnes Ridge , where it leaves the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains and joins the Rutford Ice Current flowing south .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1957 and 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1961 after Cicero Jasper Ellen (1919–1988) of the United States Air Force , head of numerous Air missions for the construction of the south pole station between 1956 and 1957.
