Ellen Delp

Ellen Delp (also Ellen Delmari-Delp , actually Ellen Krafft-Delmari , née Schachian ; born February 9, 1890 in Leipzig ; died February 25, 1990 on the island of Reichenau ) was a German writer and actress .

Delp studied literature and art history in Leipzig, Vienna and Munich and since then had access to artistic circles, for example around Max Reinhardt . As the "daughter of choice" of Lou Andreas-Salomé , she became known to numerous personalities from their environment, including Hugo von Hofmannsthal , Thomas Mann , Gerhart Hauptmann , Sigmund Freud and Rainer Maria Rilke . Through Rilke, she met the writer Regina Ullmann around 1914 , with whom she had a lifelong friendship and whose biographer she became. She was also friends with Käthe Braun-Prager and Ruth Fritzsche-Rilke.
