Inge Meidinger-Geise

Inge Meidinger-Geise (born March 16, 1923 as Ingeborg Geise in Berlin ; † October 10, 2007 in Erlangen ) was a German writer .

Life

Inge Meidinger-Geise was the daughter of a businessman. After visiting a Lyceum she began in Berlin studying the German language and history , she at the University of Erlangen continued. 1945 doctorate her there with a thesis on Agnes Miegel for doctor of philosophy and then worked as a freelance writer and journalist . From 1946 until his death in 1979 she was married to the lawyer Konrad Meidinger. From 1967 to 1986 she lived in Halle / Westphalia . From 1980 to 1988 she worked at the cultural office of the city of Erlangen.

Inge Meidinger-Geise is the author of novels , short stories , poems , plays and radio plays ; she also worked as a critic and editor . She was a member of the PEN Center Germany and the European authors' association Die Kogge , of which she was chairman from 1967 to 1988, and of the Pegnese Order of Flowers .

Awards

Inge Meidinger-Geise received the following awards: 1956 the Willibald Pirckheimer Medal of the City of Nuremberg , 1972 the Culture Prize of the City of Erlangen , 1973 the Cogge Ring of Honor from the City of Minden , 1976 the Hans Sachs Stage Prize, 1979 the Max Dauthendey Plaque and the Swedish Mölle literature prize, 1985 the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon , 1988 the Wolfram von Eschenbach Prize , 1993 the Cross of Honor of the Pegnese Order of Flowers and the Ring of Honor of the City of Minden, and in 1999 the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class.
