Elli Michler

Elli Michler (born February 12, 1923 in Würzburg , † November 18, 2014 in Heilbronn ) was a German poet .

Life

Her father worked in a commercial profession. After the monastery school she attended was dissolved by National Socialism , she completed her compulsory social year. Shortly after the start of the Second World War , she was drafted into service in a Würzburg industrial association. Years later she volunteered to help rebuild the Würzburg university . During this time she met her future husband, who was resuming his studies in Würzburg. She married him three years later after completing her degree in economics . After the birth of a daughter, the family moved to Hessen for work and ultimately to Bad Homburg vor der Höhe.

In March 2010 Elli Michler received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon for her lyrical work. In the justification of the Federal President it says: "The award is to be seen as a thank you and an incentive for the support that you give many readers of your poetry through your life-affirming manner."
