Ellice River ( Inuktitut : Kuunnuaq ) is a river in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut in Canada .

It has its origin about 25 km east of Beechey Lake . From there it flows north to the Queen Maud Gulf . There it flows into Campbell Bay .

The terrain between the Ellice River and Sherman Inlet is mostly flat marshland. Musk ox and barren ground caribou frequent the area.

The river was named in honor of Edward Ellice, Jr. named.

fauna

Arctic char occurs in the Ellice River . Large brent goose populations breed on the coastal islands off the mouth of the Ellice River.
