The Ellundfeld consists of a large western area that lies west of the town of Ellund and a smaller eastern area that is east of the town of Ellund. "Ellundfeld-West" is mainly accessed through the two streets "Ellund-West" and "Flensburger Straße". The place Wilmkjer is also in this area. The smaller, eastern area is accessed by the "Ellund-Ost" road. Parts of the village of Simondys lie in this area . To the south of Ellund is the town of Ellundbrück , which is also assigned to the Ellundfeld from time to time.

history

From 1761 King Friedrich V had the sparsely populated heather and moor areas on the Schleswigschen Gest colonized by people from Palatinate and Hesse . Two colonist posts for Colony No. 14 Königsheide were set up on Ellundfeld. These were: Waldemars Hof, Ellund-West 9 and Dans Hof, Ellund-West 10. A third colonist post for the Königsheide colony was set up on the Wallsbüllfeld, namely the Johannes Hof, Osterfeld 3 in Wallsbüll . Since 1831, Dan's farm with the associated farm served as a poor house . This institution was only closed again after around 130 years. Ellundfeld was already entered on the area maps of the Prussian land registry around 1879, which represented the municipality of Ellund.

During the Second World War , there was a false airfield in the northwestern area of the Ellundfeld, near the Danish border, which was supposed to hinder the air raids on Flensburg . In addition to this "Ellundfeld false airfield" ( location ), there was also a " Frösleefeld false airfield " to the northwest . The "dummy airfield Ellundfeld" consisted of barracks halls, wooden dummy aircraft and other wooden accessories. During the night the false airfield was lit and false fires were started. Allied air raids dropped 368 bombs on Ellunder area. 1940 only were outbuildings of a farm in Ellund by a firebomb destroyed.
