Elmo (born July 24, 1984 in Beirut , Lebanon ; real life Hassan El Moussaoui ) is a German rapper of Lebanese origin. He was best known for working with his younger brother MoTrip .

biography

Elmo was born in Lebanon and emigrated with his family to Germany in 1989 due to the civil war at the time . Since then he has lived in Aachen . Through a friend of his older brother Ali he came into contact with hip-hop in 1998 and emulated his role models Jadakiss , Styles P. , Jay-Z and Mase by writing his first own texts in English and recording them with a friend. In 2002, inspired by Kool Savas , he and his younger brother MoTrip started recording songs in German. Both made a name for themselves in the following years through various rap publications in the Aachen underground. Elmo also came into contact with other rappers, such as CashMo , Farid Bang , Summer Cem , D-Bo and Nyze , with whom he worked via the Internet . After becoming the father of a daughter in 2005, the rapper retired from music for a few years.

In 2009 Elmo finally released his mixtape Sorry Jungs for free download on the Internet. He also made a guest contribution to the Nyze album Amnezia . At the beginning of 2012 the mixtape Bite in the Fish followed! and he was featured on his younger brother MoTrip's Embryo album . MoTrip pays tribute to Elmo on the track "The question is when" with the following line:

"It's going up today, look, it's not a mere coincidence, I learned a lot from my big brother: Hassan was the first to tell me: 'Nobody has been able to write that before, go out there and you will achieve a lot.'"

Further collaborations came about with Bushido and Eko Fresh , among others . In 2013 Elmo recorded the single Guten Morgen NSA with MoTrip , with which they jumped to number 80 in the German charts for a week.

At the beginning of 2015 Elmo's first EP + -0 , which includes guest contributions by MoTrip, Ali As and Lito, was released for download on Amazon and iTunes .

In addition to his rap career, he plans to study social work .
