D-Bo ended his active career as a rapper with the release of his seventh album, Kopffick mit Ebene .

Career

Bokelmann was born in Göttingen in 1978. At the time of his birth his mother was 17 years old, which led to the decision to let him grow up with his grandparents in Gladebeck near Northeim. During his school days, Bokelmann got to know American hip-hop music through friends. The NWA group's Niggaz 4 Life album was the first album he bought. First he imitated songs by NWA by rapping the lyrics and recording them with a cassette recorder . Since he did not like the recordings he made himself, he temporarily stopped this hobby. When Bokelmann was in the seventh grade, he bought an electronic drum kit and keyboard , which he financed with money that he had received in the course of his confirmation . With these instruments he recorded songs for which he had written texts in English. Bokelmann did not approve of the results of these recordings either. With the album 4 wins the hip-hop formation Die Fantastischen Vier finally became aware of German rap . In the following, Bokelmann also began rapping his lyrics in German. In addition to music, D-Bo was active as a basketball player and worked as a basketball coach from the age of 17. In 1998, Bokelmann graduated from high school and then did his community service.

In 1999 D-Bo met the rapper Bushido , with whom Bokelmann became a close friend in the following years. In Hanover, D-Bo then founded the independent label I Luv Money Records together with Bushido, King Orgasmus One and Bass Sultan Hengzt . 2001 D-Bo released his first album Deutscha Playa under the release number ILM 002 as a tape on the hip-hop label. D-Bo recorded most of this in Berlin as well as in Osnabrück, Freiburg and Hanover. Bushido, King Orgasmus One, Jayo, Mizz Dozia, Schlafwandler, Gook, DJ Doc, De La Mok, Scarface, Timm Tighten, 490 Clizzic and Berlin's Most Wanted appear as guest rappers on Deutscha Playa . Together with Jayo and Psycomatic, D-Bo founded the music distribution company Distributionz, which specializes in underground rap, in 2001 . After Bushido had accepted a contract offer from the Aggro Berlin label and left I Luv Money Records , D-Bo also ended the collaboration and moved to Göttingen, where he began studying sport and economics . In addition, D-Bo continued to work as a basketball trainer for youth teams, including the Lower Saxony Basketball Association (NBV).

In 2004 Bushido switched to the major label Universal Music Group . Since the rapper was planning to create his own sub-label within the music company, he turned to D-Bo. In August 2004, D-Bo joined the idea and moved to Berlin, where he founded ersguterjunge together with Bushido . D-Bo was then mainly organizational operates the platform but also took advantage of his debut album titled Deutscha Playa 2004 as a CD version to be published again . Bushido's solo album Electro Ghetto was released on October 24, 2004 . D-Bo, who in the previous years had continued to produce hip-hop beats in addition to his professional activities, contributed a production for the song Butterfly . Electro Ghetto reached number 6 on the German album charts. Because more than 100,000 units of the sound carrier were sold, D-Bo also received a gold record for his participation in the album . He also accompanied Bushido on the subsequent concert tour “Electro Ghetto Tour”.

In February 2005 D-Bo's second album Deo Volente was released , on which he thematically deals with, among other things, his Christian faith at the time . The musicians Aisha, Saad and Bass Sultan Hengzt appear on the album with guest contributions. D-Bo became known to a wider audience through his participation in the first label sampler by ersguterjunge Nemesis . The theme song, on which D-Bo can be heard alongside rappers Bushido, Eko Fresh , Saad and Chakuza , was also implemented as a video and broadcast on the music channel MTV , where it reached number 1 on the TRL charts . In the album charts, the sampler positioned itself at number 4 in the German charts as well as in the charts of Austria and Switzerland. D-Bo also appeared as a guest rapper on various publications by other rappers on his label, including on the album Carlo Cokxxx Nutten II .

In 2006 D-Bo's third album Seelenblut was released. With rank 59, the album was the first solo release of the rapper in the album charts. Bushido, Saad, Chakuza, Nyze , Bahar , Billy and Taichi are represented as guest rappers on Soul Blood . D-Bo also worked on Vendetta and Alles Gute comes from Below , the second and third label samplers from ersguterjunge . In 2007 the solo album Sans Souci followed , which was able to position itself again in the charts. For Sans Souci , songs with the artists Eko Fresh, Nyze, Summer Cem , Chakuza, Billy13, Abaz, Reign and Sprachtot were created. The video for the title song reached number 1 on MTV's Urban TRL charts. In April 2009 it was announced that D-Bo is leaving the Berlin label ersguterjunge . He explained that " a musical and business development [...] under one's own direction is ultimately best possible ". In addition, “ more modern ways ” must be found to “market music and artists. "

After D-Bo had ended the collaboration with ersguterjunge , he concentrated on his own label Wolfpack Entertainment . Bokelmann had the idea for the label back in 1998. At the beginning of 2008, he founded Wolfpack Entertainment as a platform that publishes artist albums through band takeover agreements. The mixtape Therapy before the album by RAF Camora was the first release of the music company. In 2009 D-Bo released the album The Lie of Freedom , which is stylistically more based on electronic music and designed as a continuous story. One day after the commercial release, D-Bo made the album available for free download on its homepage. This was combined with the offer to send a cash amount in the form of an SMS as a positive response . Despite the action that was not relevant for the charts, The Lie of Freedom rose to position 89. The tracks Alles easy and Frust were also released as singles. Chakuza, Nyze, Emine Bahar , Nazar , Raf Camora, Summer Cem, Bizzy Montana and Sonnik Boom are featured on the album with guest contributions. At the beginning of 2011 the play Nur Ich was published for free download. D-Bo called the song his " last pure hip-hop number ". In the following he concentrated musically on Electro and Dubstep.

D-Bo's sixth album In Search of Happiness was released in February 2011. This one could not place in the album charts. Songs with Emine Bahar, Deine Jugend , Crush, Raf Camora, Max Mostley, Harris and Casper were created for In Search of Happiness . Rock that Party, Berlin , Vampir and Glücklich were released as singles. At the beginning of 2012, Bokelmann founded the clothing label “Est. in Hell ”. In addition, D-Bo accompanied the musician Raf 3.0 through Germany on the tour “All robots before the world goes under”. In May D-Bo announced his seventh studio album under the title Kopffick with level for October 2012. After the track list of the album had already been announced, the release of Kopffick mit Ebene had to be postponed due to legal problems. The album was finally released on January 4, 2013 via Wolfpack Entertainment . Kopffick with level entered the German album charts at number 79. The pieces Be Alone , Passage and Your Heart were implemented as videos. The shooting of Durchzug und Dein Herz took place in New York City . At the end of January 2013, Bokelmann announced that he wanted to “ let his alter ego D-Bo die ”. Instead of his own music, he wanted to focus on the music label Wolfpack Entertainment and the clothing brand Est. focus in hell . At the same time as this statement, D-Bo published a documentation entitled Behind the Scenes .
