Else Ulbrich (born March 8, 1891 in Berlin ; † March 26, 1954 there ) was a German politician ( DNVP , CSVD , later CDU ).

Life

Else was born in Berlin as the first child of Ferdinand and Wilhelmine Roeske. She had a younger brother and two half-siblings. Her mother ran a tailor's shop, her father was a hitchhiker on the construction site.

After graduating from elementary school, Else completed an apprenticeship as a tailor in women's clothing. She briefly attended the tailoring academy and from then on worked as a tailor at home. In addition to her professional activity, she was involved in the Christian trade union . She joined the union of homeworkers in Germany , was trained there by Margarete Behm and was later a board member of the organization. She was also a board member of the Berlin Housewives Association and active in the Church Social Association. On October 12, 1914, she married Josef Ulbrich.

Ulbrich joined the German National People's Party (DNVP) during the Weimar Republic and was a member of the district assembly in Berlin-Kreuzberg from 1921 to 1928 . In May 1928 she was elected as a member of the Prussian state parliament. In January 1930 she left the DNVP together with Wilhelm Lindner and switched to the Christian Social People's Service (CSVD). It was now non-attached and left parliament in 1932.

After the Second World War , Ulbrich continued her political career. She joined the CDU and was again a district councilor in Berlin-Kreuzberg from April 1946 to 1951. In December 1950 she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives , to which she was a member from January 1951 until her death. In the post-war period, she did an honorary job at the Berlin Higher Administrative Court and also worked for newspapers and magazines.
