Elton da Costa Junior (born December 15, 1979 in Condor ) is a Brazilian former soccer player and current soccer coach .
Career
As a player
Da Costa's hometown club is the EC Internacional from Santa Maria in southern Brazil. In 1998 he moved to Germany. First he played for a year at FSV Frankfurt and then for three years at SV Darmstadt 98 , each in the Regionalliga Süd . His first professional position was SpVgg Unterhaching , where he gained second division experience from 2003 to 2005 (three goals in 38 games).
In summer 2005 he moved to FC Augsburg in the regional league . There he had the greatest success of his career so far when he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team . He was then one of the few regular players who could maintain their regular place in the 2nd Bundesliga. He wore the number 10 and was an important part of coach Jos Luhukay's team as a playmaker . In the 2006/07 season he made 23 league appearances and scored five goals. In addition, he completed a game in the DFB Cup that season and scored one goal.
For the 2010/11 season , da Costa moved to Kickers Offenbach , where he signed a two-year contract. With the OFC, however, in 2011 (7th place) and 2012 (8th place) he missed the club's promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the season, the expiring contract was not extended by the OFC.
For the 2012/13 season , da Costa again joined SV Darmstadt 98. On May 19, 2014, in the second leg of the relegation for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga against Arminia Bielefeld , da Costa scored the decisive goal in extra time to make it 4-2.
Since his contract was not extended, he moved to the Hesse Association for 1. FCA Darmstadt for the 2014/15 season and for the next season to FC 07 Bensheim in the Darmstadt group league, with which he was promoted to the Association League after a year.
As a trainer
After da Costa had already acted as a player-coach in the Hessian Association League at 1. FCA Darmstadt, in April 2017 he also took over the coaching position at FC 07 Bensheim in addition to his player engagement when his predecessor Ronald Borchers threw in the towel.
Private
Da Costa lives with his wife in Darmstadt-Arheilgen .
