Elżbieta Szmytka

Elżbieta Szmytka (born 1956 in Prochowice , Lower Silesian Voivodeship ) is a Polish opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Szmytka studied with Helena Łazarska and made her debut as “ Susanna ” at the Cracow Opera . This was followed by appearances at the Vienna State Opera , Grand Théâtre de Genève , Grand Opéra de Paris , Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels , De Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, Berlin , Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires as well as at the Salzburg Festival , the Festival of Aix-en- Provence and to Glyndebourne .

The artist's repertoire includes Mozart roles such as Cinna in Lucio Silla , Pamina , Despina , Konstanze and Donna Anna , Ilia and Elettra in Idomeneo , and Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito .

Szmytka also interpreted Adina at L'elisir d'amore , Gilda , Violetta (in Berlin, Brussels and Düsseldorf) and Nanetta , the Oscar and the Zerbinetta , the Sophie, the Rosalinde (at the Salzburg Festival and at the Komische Oper ), Mélisande , Antonia , Alieja (again at the Salzburg Festival ) and Mimi , the Roxana in Król Roger von Szymanowski (at the Marinsky Theater in St. Petersburg and at the Edinburgh Festival ), the Infanta and the title roles in Alcina , L'incoronazione di Poppea , Luisa Miller and the Medea in Corinto at the Theater St. Gallen .

Elzbieta Szmytka has sung under the direction of well-known conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Pierre Boulez , Sylvain Cambreling , John Eliot Gardiner , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Neville Marriner , Antonio Pappano , John Pritchard , Simon Rattle and Georg Solti .
