Emanuel Archibald (born September 9, 1994 in Georgetown ) is a Guyanese athlete who competes in sprint and long jump at the start.

Athletic career

Emanuel Archibald took part in the national long jump championships for the first time in 2016 and immediately won with 7.53 m. The following year he rose to 7.71 m and also competed in the long jump at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku, where he finished eighth. Also in 2017 he started to start in the sprint over 100 and 200 meters. He takes part in most of his competitions in Jamaica, where he lives and studies at the University of the West Indies on a grant from the Guyanese government. In February 2018 he set his personal best over 100 meters with a time of 10.22 s. Two months later, he started at the Commonwealth Games in Australia over this distance . He moved into the semifinals, in which he was eliminated as seventh of his run. Overall, he finished 30th. In the long jump he failed in the qualification at the same event. A few months after the games, he was able to jump the eight-meter mark for the first time. At the end of July, he also took part in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia. While he was eliminated in the semi-finals in the 100-meter run, he finished fourth in the long jump.

At the beginning of May 2019, Archibald set a new national record in the long jump with 8.12 m. Only a few weeks later he initially competed over 100 meters at the South American Championships in Lima. He finished fifth with 10.56 s. Just one day after the final, he also competed in the long jump. There he took fourth place. In August he took part in the Pan American Games in the same place . In the long jump he did not get more than 7.22 m, which put him in eleventh place. He failed over 100 meters in the lead. Overall, he finished 17th. After all, he was able to take part in a world championship for the first time in Doha in September . He landed in 23rd place.
