Emanuel Kokeš (* 1862 , † June 27, 1932 in Pardubice ) was a Czech landowner, agricultural entrepreneur and politician. He was a pioneer in the cultivation of barren land, particularly through melioration .

Live and act

Kokeš initially worked as a forester in Krakovany . In March 1899, he bought the Sváravský les forest area near Elbeteinitz from the Kolín Jew Eliáš Fischer, who had acquired the Krakowan forests in 1867 when the Pardubice manor was sold off by the Austrian Credit Institute for Trade and Industry, a privileged kk. At the same time, he acquired less fertile areas, lands near Labské Chrčice characterized by dunes and swamps, and began processing the oak and spruce bark to tan. In the years 1899–1900, Kokeš had the Svárava manor ( Swarawa ) built with a castle behind the dunes near Labské Chrčice on Sváravský potok . He had the wetlands around the estate meliorated and used as fields and pastureland, the dunes were planted with oaks. In 1902 he became the founding chairman of the Peasant Cooperative for Processing and Selling Agricultural Products in Krakovany , which opened a drawing drying plant.

Staré Čívice Castle (1923)

In 1909 he acquired the Čivice estate from Wolfgang Chotek von Chotkow . In 1915, Kokeš sold the Svárava estate and between 1915 and 1916 had the Staré Čívice Castle built on the meliorated marshland. In 1930 Kokeš founded a factory for processing agricultural products and canning production on the district road to Přelouč in the Kuchyňka Forest, from which the Kokešov settlement emerged

In the electoral periods 1901–1908 and 1908–1913, Kokeš was a member of the state parliament of the Kingdom of Bohemia as a representative of the curia of non-fideicommissarian large estates . From 1902 he was a member of the Landtag commissions for the matter of the mortgage bank and for building regulations. In 1909 he was elected secretary of the curia together with Franz Graf Deym .

The Kokešov settlement belonging to Opočínek and the Kokešova ulice in Staré Čívice are named after Kokeš.
