Emanuel Linkert (born August 11, 1934 ) is a former German soccer player. He played in the 1950s for SC Chemie Halle-Leuna and for BSG Lok Stendal in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Linkert began his football career at the end of the 1940s with SG Eintracht Gommern , in 1951 he moved to the district town for the company sports community (BSG) Einheit Burg . There he was used for the first time in the men's division in the 1952/53 season and played seven point games in the second-rate GDR league . From 1954 to 1956 Linkert played at the BSG Post Mühlhausen, with which he rose in 1955 to the then fourth-class district league Erfurt .

During the 1956 season Linkert came to the GDR league club SC Chemie Halle-Leuna, who had previously been relegated from the GDR Oberliga. On the last day of the match, when SC Chemie had already made it back up, Linkert played his first league game for the Halle team, and he also scored his first league goal for SC. As a replacement for the regular attacker Rolf Hoffmann who was not ready for action , Linkert played the first five league games of the 1957 season as a left winger and made a successful debut with four goals. After Hoffmann's return, he was only used sporadically, towards the end of the season almost only as a substitute. Linkert completed his first league season with 16 of 26 point games and five goals. Also in 1958 he got off to a good start with seven continuous appearances at the start of the season, but in his new position as a right striker he did not score a goal. After that, he was not used in the major league for nine game days. He later played four point games and came in the 1958 season only to eleven league games and only scored one goal. At the end of the season, the Halle residents had to relegate again.

Linkert then joined the league promoted BSG Lok Stendal. There he was used in the 1959 season in 18 of 26 league games as a striker on the right side, but came back only once to score. The Stendal did not manage to stay up and had to compete again in the GDR league in 1960. Despite the relegation, Linkert stayed with the team this time, was used in all 26 point games, was the BSG Lok's most successful shooter with 17 hits and was thus significantly involved in the immediate promotion.

Before the beginning of the 1961/62 season (return to the summer-spring rhythm of the game) Linkert settled in the Federal Republic and joined the FSV Frankfurt . The FSV became champions of the 2nd Oberliga Süd in 1963 with Linkert and thus qualified for the newly established second-class Regional League South . Linkert continued to play there until 1966 for FSV Frankfurt. Within three seasons with a total of 108 point games Linkert came on 85 missions in which he scored 14 goals. Linkert later worked as a football coach for lower-class clubs, so in 1976 he helped SG Ober-Erlenbach gain promotion to the Hessian regional league south.
