Emanuel Schmolling (born December 14, 1801 in Reppen , † January 20, 1871 in Landsberg an der Warthe ) was the dike captain in the Warthebruch .

Life

Gottfried Emanuel Schmolling was the fourth son of Reppen's council treasurer and city treasurer Christian Schmolling (1762–1838) and the cloth maker daughter Dorothea, née. Schulze (1775-1856). He became a geometer , construction manager and, in 1840, royal hydraulic engineer at Küstrin , in 1846 dike inspector at Sonnenburg and in 1858 dike captain at Landsberg. He wrote a memorandum on the improvement of the Warthebruch and led the construction of the Oder bridges near Schwedt / Oder and Küstrin as well as the penal institution in Sonnenburg.

His son Ernst (* 1845) became a high school professor at the Marienstiftsgymnasium in Stettin and his son Max (* 1849) became a military doctor, most recently a senior staff doctor in Poznan . The submarine commander Fritz Schmolling (* 1886) was Max's son and his grandson.
