Emanuela de Paula
Emanuela de Paula (born April 25, 1989 in Cabo de Santo Agostinho , Pernambuco ) is a Brazilian photo and catwalk model .
Life
Emanuela de Paula, the daughter of a black father who works as a radio host in her hometown, and a white mother, was spotted working for the modeling business on a street in Recife, northern Brazil . She then took part in a beauty pageant and in 1997 won the title of Miss Pernambuco infantil (child). At the age of nine, de Paula was first booked as a model and used for supermarket advertising. At 15, she started looking for an agency and was immediately hired by the New York Marilyn Agency.
In 2005 she moved to New York and started showing off fashion by designers Ralph Lauren , Bill Blass and Zac Posen on the catwalk. She was then booked by Diane von Fürstenberg , Tommy Hilfiger , Yigal Azrouël, Rebecca Taylor, Alexandre Herchcovitch and the labels Lacoste , H & M and 'Sweetface', the fashion line of Jennifer Lopez, among others . De Paula made international fame above all for her work for Victoria's Secret . In 2008 and 2010 she performed at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which was particularly popular in the USA. She has also appeared in leading fashion magazines such as Allure , Marie Claire and Vogue .
Emanuela de Paula, who is 1.77 meters tall, is one of the few dark-skinned supermodels who were able to establish themselves internationally. According to Forbes Magazine , the Brazilian was the eleventh highest paid model in the world in 2009 with an annual income of $ 2.5 million. She still lives in New York, but also appears on the catwalk in her Brazilian homeland (for example during the São Paulo Fashion Week). In local newspaper articles she is compared to Gisele Bündchen .
