Embassy of Silence is a Finnish heavy , power and progressive metal band from Riihimäki that was formed in 2007.

history

While Ines Lukkanen was making recordings as a guest singer for the Saattue album Jäähyvästi in 2007 , she decided to write new songs together with the guitarist and keyboard player of the band Tero Kalliomäki, which resulted in Embassy of Silence. As a result, a first demo was recorded in D-Studio in November 2007 . It was released in early 2008 under the name Wendigo Winter and consists of the songs Lilith Aether , Passion and Savagery and Void . A few songs from it were played on national radio stations. In 2008, the duo went to the studio with drummer Mikael Ahlsten and bassist Samu Lahtinen to record four more songs that made up the EP Pristine . Harri Lampinen joined the group as a further guitarist. All members except Lukkanen were also members of Saattue at that time. Through an appearance together with Dotma , their keyboardist Harri Koskela joined the cast of Embassy of Silence. In 2009 the self-financed debut album Euphorialight was recorded in D-Studio with Jarno Hänninen , which contains eleven songs. In the same year Mikael Ahlsten was replaced by Jaakko Hauru and towards the end of the year Lampinen left the group due to lack of time. In the fall, the debut album was mastered by Björn Engelmann in the Stockholm Cutting Room . The album was released in 2010 on Supernova Records , with Soul-Broken being released as a single . It was sent to various labels with the promo video Into the Euphorialight . Johnny Hagel from Bonnier Amigo Music Group became aware of the band through the band's own Myspace presence and wanted to sign them for a new sub-label that should concentrate on metal and rock . A contract was then negotiated with the band manager Matti Remes. The band spent until February 2010 auditioning various guitarists to replace the retired Lampinen before a suitable replacement was found in Jarno Suodenjoki. After a year of gigs, the band began recording and writing new songs, after which the album Antler Velvet was released in the summer of 2012 - not on a sub-label of the Bonnier Amigo Music Group, but on the British label Ravenheart Music . In the summer of 2013, the band contributed the anthem for the American Football Women's World Cup . The group also played the song at the end of their performance at the Riihimäki Rock Festival . In 2014 they went on tour through the Czech Republic with Dying Passion , before the third album Verisimilitude was released in August 2015 . The album reached number 42 on the Finnish album charts. Then it went on a small tour through Europe , which included nine gigs, began in Poland and ended in Germany .

style

Tony Cannella from femmemetalwebzine.net wrote in his review of Euphorialight that he would assign the band to melodic metal rather than gothic metal . In addition to influences from the latter genre, the group also takes elements from progressive metal and classic metal. Dangerdog.com's Craig Hartranft noted in his review of Hang Me High that the group plays uninspiring traditional, melodic heavy metal, with the occasional foray into power metal and symphonic metal . The most striking thing for him was Lukkanen's singing, which was powerful and varied. Thomas Becker from Powermetal.de stated in his review of Verisimilitude that influences from pop music are recognizable. However, the group always sprinkles in progressive breaks . Many songs are provided with “sometimes heavy-metal guitars, but also keyboard and organ sounds, varied song structures and a certain ABBA feeling”.
