Emery Huse

Emery Huse (* 24. February 1897 in Newburyport , Essex County , Massachusetts , † 7. July 1961 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American film technicians , who at the Oscar ceremony in 1940 with the Oscar for technical merit ( Technical Achievement Award ).

Life

Huse worked as a film technician for the Eastman Kodak Company and published his technical developments in the field of photographic hypersensitization in a number of specialist articles.

In 1940 he and Ralph B. Atkinson were awarded the Oscar for technical merit “for their specifications for chemical analysis of photographic developers and fixing baths”.

Huse was also involved in the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) founded in 1916 and was its president between 1941 and 1942. After the end of World War II , he was director of the West Coast office of Kodak's film department at least between 1948 and 1958.
