Emil Dierzer Ritter von Traunthal (born April 26, 1844 in Linz , † February 15, 1904 in Milan , Italy ) was an Austrian textile industrialist and politician.

education and profession

Dierzer was born the son of the textile manufacturer Josef Dierzer von Traunthal , who was ennobled in 1851 , attended the lower secondary school in Linz and then moved to a boarding school in Switzerland . He graduated from the commercial academy in Prague and then continued his education in the commercial field in various companies at home and abroad. During this time he also spent an extended period in England . After his return to Upper Austria in 1867, he and his brother took over the father's carpet factory and cotton spinning mill in Linz- Kleinmünchen . He was also involved in other companies. For example, he was head of Hartmayr and Hofmann und Co (Kirchdorfer Portland cement factory) and from 1902 president and director of the flax spinning mill in Lambach . In 1897 Dierzer took over the role of President of the Bank for Upper Austria and Salzburg , and in 1901 he also became President of the Allgemeine Sparkasse Linz .

Politics and functions

From 1888 to 1895, Dierzer was involved as a regional party leader in the Liberal-Political Association of Upper Austria. In 1891 he was elected provisional chairman of the trade section of the Chamber of Commerce, in 1897 he was promoted to vice-president, in 1901 he took over the function of president. He was also a member of the board of trustees of Hypothekenanstalt Oberösterreich from 1890 to 1896. In addition, Dierzer worked as president of the Upper Austria construction company from 1893 and was a member of the Upper Austria Railway Council from 1897. He had previously been involved in the construction of the Kremstalbahn and had been a member of its interest committee from 1880. There he also took over the office of President of the society constituted that year in 1881.

Dierzer, who had initiated the establishment of the Volksküche in Linz, was an advocate of liberalism and took over on September 15, 1881 after the death of the deputy Franz Melichar in the 3rd session of the VI.
