The Holderburg is a castle in Oßweil (Holderstraße 14), a district of Ludwigsburg in the Ludwigsburg district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The castle was built around 1200 by the Count Palatine of Tübingen , then passed to the Lords of Oßweil and in 1316 was owned by the Counts of Württemberg . In 1977 the city of Ludwigsburg bought the castle.

The castle was essentially a late medieval three-storey stone house (fortified house) with half-timbered floor and hipped roof built, as well as farm buildings, which were protected by trenches and walls.

In the 16th century, extensions and alterations took place, in the 19th century the moats were filled in, which suggests a water castle .
