The Bietigheim Castle is a castle in Bietigheim-Bissingen in the district of Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg .

The castle is located on the southwestern edge of the old town of Bietigheim near the market square.

history

The entire palace complex should be based on the efforts of Antonia Visconti , wife of Count Eberhard III. of Württemberg , built in 1386. The complex included the official courtyard, the castle, a fruit box, cellar and castle press. After Ingersheim's incorporation into the Bietigheim office, the New Palace or Württemberg Official Palace was built in 1506 due to a lack of space in the Amtshof , which was the seat of the bailiff. This was expanded to its present size in 1542. In 1707 several buildings were badly damaged by fire, only the office building remained intact. Since the old castle had been uninhabited since 1667, the Duke of Württemberg decided not to have it rebuilt. However, the economic buildings of the castle were rebuilt by the state church property administration and the Bietigheim rent chamber in the following years.

Todays use

From the 19th century until 1999 the tax office of the city of Bietigheim (-Bissingen) was located in the Amthaus. Between 2000 and 2002 the complex was renovated. Since then there are u. a. the city's music school and the cultural and sports department, a community college, a brewery and two shops.
