Münchingen Castle: In the foreground the baroque building, in the background the old castle

Münchingen Castle is a four-wing palace complex in Korntal-Münchingen in the Ludwigsburg district in Baden-Württemberg .

history

A castle, first mentioned in 1304, already stood on the grounds of the castle . In its place, the oldest building of today's complex, the Old Castle, was built in 1588 . When building any parts are moved into the castle as a dungeon or a residential tower one. In 1619 the former fruit box and the stable building, which today complete the courtyard, were completed. In 1733 the castle was sold by the Münchingen to the barons von Hartling. Soon afterwards, they built a new palace in the baroque style on the ruins of the main building of the castle . Due to neglect, both the old castle and the baroque building were in need of renovation in the middle of the 20th century. In the 1970s and 1980s a thorough renovation was carried out, in which u. a. the no longer existing half-timbered floor of the old castle and the rococo paintings on the baroque building were restored. Today the castle is privately owned.
