Emil Gsell

Emil Gsell (born April 12, 1899 in Busslingen , † December 23, 1973 in Bühler ) was a Swiss economist.

Life

He attended business school in Zurich and then worked in a textile company in Italian-speaking Switzerland . After several years of professional practice, he transferred to the University of Zurich , where he economics studied. Other places of study were the University of Geneva and the London School of Economics . He did his PhD with Unemployment Insurance in Great Britain and then worked at the International Labor Office in Geneva . Then he was a teacher at the commercial school in Zurich.

In 1930 Gsell became a professor at the St. Gallen Commercial College , initially for statistics . His inaugural lecture was on the importance of statistics in commercial enterprise . Over time, Gsell concentrated more on issues relating to banking and finance . In 1936 he became editor of the Swiss Journal for Commercial Education .
