Emil Wilhelm Emilius Zinn Hartmann (born February 21, 1836 in Copenhagen ; † July 18, 1898 ibid) was a Danish composer and son of Johann Peter Emilius Hartmann .

Life

Emil Hartmann received his education from his father and his brother-in-law Niels Wilhelm Gade , then took up scientific studies at the University of Copenhagen , but after completing the same he turned completely to music and by the end of the 1850s he already performed several successful dramatic works at the royal court theater for the performance.

In 1860, Hartmann undertook a study trip with a scholarship that took him to Leipzig for a longer period of time . On returning to Copenhagen, he worked as an organist from 1860 on , but in 1873 he retired to a country house near Copenhagen to devote himself exclusively to composition .
