Emil Haupt

Julius Leonhard August Emil Haupt (born April 29, 1819 in Lich ; † September 3, 1866 in Nassau (Lahn) ) was a Nassau doctor and politician .

Life

Haupt was the son of the rent manager of the vom Stein family , Caspar Friedrich Haupt (born January 16, 1787 in Iserlohn; † May 31, 1865 in Nassau an der Lahn) and his wife Johanne Constantia Charlotte née David (born June 24, 1784 in Birnbaum (Posen), † April 4, 1863 in Kirberg), the daughter of the businessman Johann Gottfried David. Haupt was of Protestant denomination and married Amalie Christine Henriette von Eck (* on the Erlenhof near Mappershain, † December 8, 1900 in Nassau an der Lahn), the daughter of the landowner and MP Friedrich Arnold von Eck and Amalie Victoria née Grüter.

Emil Haupt attended the Hadamar pedagogy and from 1833 to 1837 the Philippinum Weilburg grammar school and then studied medicine at the Universities of Göttingen, Marburg and Berlin. He was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. From 1842 to 1846 he was a medical advisor in the Nassau office . Between 1846 and 1856 he acquired further qualifications in Berlin and Vienna.

After the March Revolution he was from 1849 to 1851 a member of the Nassau Estates Assembly for constituency 1 (Dillenburg / Herborn) as the successor to Ernst Wenckenbach .

In 1856 he was the founder and director of the "Institute for Electricity, Remedial Gymnastics, Pine Needle and Cold Water Baths in Nassau an der Lahn", known as a cold water healing facility.
