Emil Kränzlein

Emil Kränzlein (born July 6, 1850 in Erlangen ; † May 7, 1936 in Erlangen) was a factory owner, secret councilor of commerce and is an honorary citizen of the city of Erlangen.

After attending the agricultural and trade school in Erlangen, Kränzlein received his commercial training in Nuremberg , while at the same time he became familiar with the manufacture of brushes in his father's workshop. In 1872 the 22-year-old Kränzlein founded his own brush factory in Schwabach , which he brought to Erlangen in 1873. Kränzlein was considered a pioneer in the matter of workers' discipline; B. in terms of punctuality, as well as in the introduction of the division of labor and mechanization . In addition to fine brushes of all kinds, the company also produced toothbrushes from 1899, all of which were sold under the Ideal Zett brand and whose patent for an anatomical shape had been acquired by the Polish doctor Zielinsky.

In 1896, Kränzlein converted the company into an AG, which was renamed Bürstenfabrik Erlangen A.-G., due to the capital requirements of the fast-growing company. wore. The number of employees rose from 150 in 1888 to over 500 in 1910. In 1919 Kränzlein was awarded the city of Erlangen's iron honorary coin. Since 1922 his company traded as Bürstenfabrik Emil Kränzlein AG and founded a branch with the takeover of a bristle dressing shop (Heidecker bristle preparation) in Neustadt an der Aisch , which had existed since 1890 , which existed until 1982. Emil Kränzlein led the company as general director until the end of 1927 and died in 1936. His grave is on the east wall of the Neustädter Friedhof in Erlangen. In 1948 a street in Erlangen-Süd was named after him.
