Emil Thoma (born April 26, 1869 in Enge ; † November 21, 1948 in Riedering ) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist.

Career

Thoma was the son of a bank clerk. He studied at the arts and crafts school and enrolled at the academy in Munich on October 20, 1890 . Here he was a student in the nature class with Karl Raupp and Wilhelm von Diez . He later settled in Riedering (Chiemgau). He made a portrait of the draftsman Karl Hagemeister , on which he published a treatise in the magazine Die Kunst für alle in 1924 . He also made 60 craft designs , which were printed on 25 panels in 1896. The designs reflect the character of the late French and German Rococo and were intended to be executed in wood, metal or porcelain.
