Career

Westberg achieved his breakthrough in the 2000/01 season in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . After achieving rather poor results in the first competitions, he jumped into the top twenty for the first time on February 24, 2001 in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and achieved his first Continental Cup points with 13th place. He was also able to score in the second jumping m. On March 16, 2001 he jumped from Paradiskullen in his hometown Örnsköldsvik to third place and thus reached his first podium, which in the end led to 60th place in the overall Continental Cup ranking, after finishing 20th in the second competition and still in Hede once jumped to ninth place. On March 7, 2001 he made his debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup . He reached the Swedish Falun 47th and was eliminated so no points after the first round off.

In the following years he did not succeed in building on this success in the Continental Cup. In the summer of 2002 he reached only a 36th place in his only competition in Falun and in the 2002/03 season he did not make it into the second round in any competition. The best place was a 35th place in Engelberg . On March 6, 2004, he was nominated again for a team competition in the World Cup and reached eighth place in Lahti together with Andreas Arén , Isak Grimholm and Johan Eriksson . It was his last international assignment for the next two years.

In September 2006, Westberg started again for two competitions in his hometown Örnsköldsvik as part of the FIS Cup , where he achieved a total of 18 points with places 18 and 26 and finished in 124th place in the overall ranking.
