Emilie Krall , also Emilie Jauner-Krall (born March 20, 1831 in Vienna ; † December 16, 1914 there ) was an Austrian actress and opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Krall came from a wealthy family. She received her education mainly from private tutors ; u. a. by the music master Karl Kunt . As a teenager, she performed as a singer and pianist at small private soirées . She got to know the composer Johannes Hager , in whose first opera Jolanthe she made a very successful private debut with the title role.

On the occasion of this debut, Krall was discovered by the director of the court opera , Franz Ignaz von Holbein . At the age of 16 she was able to officially make her debut at the Theater am Kärntnertor in 1848 . Despite these successes, she became a student of the actress Therese Peche . After the sudden death of her father, Krall did not extend her engagement in Vienna, but went on extensive guest tours with stops at the Hanover Opera House , Thalia Theater (Hamburg) and the State Opera Unter den Linden . In the 1854/55 season she was seen at the Darmstadt Court Theater and in 1855 she traveled to the stages of London, Manchester and Dublin.

From October 20, 1856, Krall was committed to the Dresden court theater . There she met her colleague Franz Jauner , who also found a job there in 1858. In 1859 she married him in Dresden. For over ten years she was often seen on the stage there with her husband. When her husband got an engagement at the Carltheater (Vienna) in 1871 , she too resigned and went back to her hometown with him.

Her husband made his successful debut in Vienna on April 25, 1871; she, on the other hand, withdrew from the stage and from then on only appeared at a few private events. When her husband committed suicide on February 23, 1900 , she refrained from appearing in public for the rest of her life. She died at the age of 83 on December 16, 1914 and found her final resting place next to her husband in the Ober Sankt Veiter Friedhof (Vienna- Hietzing ) (group 57).
