Emily Maitlis
Emily Maitlis (born September 6, 1970 in Hamilton , Ontario , Canada ) is a British journalist , filmmaker and news anchor .
Career
Maitlis is the daughter of Marion and Peter Maitlis. Her Jewish grandmother fled during the reign of the Nazis from Germany . She grew up in Sheffield and attended the King Edward VII School there and later the Queen's College in Cambridge . After school and training, she worked in Hong Kong for TVB News and NBC Asia for six years . Among other things, she reported on the economic collapse of the tiger states in 1997, and made documentaries in Cambodia and the People's Republic of China . In 2001 she moved to the BBC in London . There she worked in changing positions for the broadcaster. Since 2012, she presented on BBC Two the program Newsnight . She also became known in 2018 through her interview with Prince Andrew about the criminal case Jeffrey Epstein .
Maitlis is married and has two children.
