Emmaline Henry (born November 1, 1928 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † October 8, 1979 in Palm Springs , California ) was an American actress .

biography

Emmaline Henry began her acting career as a performer, dancer and singer on stage. The trained coloratura soprano appeared on Broadway in the musicals Vintage '60 ( Brooks Atkinson Theater ), Top Banana , Little Boy Blue and the musical version of Blondes .

She made her film debut in 1954 in a small role in the theatrical version of Phil Silvers ' Broadway show Top Banana . This was followed by small and medium-sized roles in feature films such as the Doris Day comedy The blonde happiness , divorce in American (with Dick van Dyke ) and the Roman Polański horror classic Rosemary's Baby .

However, Emmaline Henry became known to a wide audience primarily through her television roles. Since the 1960s , she has made guest appearances on many popular television series such as The Munsters , Company Petticoat and Bonanza . In 1965, she took on a minor episode role in the first season of Sidney Sheldon's fantasy comedy The Enchanting Jeannie . Sheldon was positive about working with her and praised the actress in an interview some time later. She was then invited to another casting for the series and received a larger, recurring role as Amanda Bellows , dominant and argumentative wife of stressed-out psychologist Alfred Bellows (played by Hayden Rorke ). This role, which made her internationally popular, she played until the discontinuation of the series in 1970. She also appeared in recurring roles on the Red Skelton Show and the sitcom Jack of Hearts with two women .

On October 8, 1979, Emmaline Henry, who was unmarried, died of cancer at the age of 50.
