Emmanuel-Jean-François Verrolles
Emmanuel-Jean-François Verrolles MEP (born April 12, 1805 in Cucuron , France , † April 29, 1878 ) was a French bishop of the Paris Mission in China .
Life
Verrolles was ordained a priest on May 31, 1828 and then worked for two years in the pastoral service of the diocese of Bayeux . In 1830 he made his profession with the Paris missionaries and left on November 30, 1830 as a missionary to China.
On December 11, 1838, Pope Gregory XVI appointed him titular bishop of Columbica and Apostolic Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning . He was the first vicar of the vicariate formed from parts of the Archdiocese of Beijing . On November 8, 1840, Joachin Salvetti OFMObs , Vicar Apostolic of Shanxi , with the assistance of Alfonso-Maria di Donato OFMObs, Vicar Apostolic of Scen-Si , donated his episcopal ordination . He took part in the First Vatican Council from December 8, 1869 to October 20, 1870 as a council father .
