The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Shenyang ( Latin Archidioecesis Fomtienensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Shenyang .
history
The Archdiocese of Shenyang was founded on August 16, 1838 by Pope Gregory XVI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Ex debito from cession of territory by the Diocese of Beijing as the Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning . On August 20, 1840, the Vicariate Apostolic Liaoning gave parts of its territory to establish the Vicariate Apostolic Mongolia and was renamed the Vicariate Apostolic Liaoning and Manchuria . The Apostolic Vicariate of Liaoning and Manchuria was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of South Manchuria on October 10, 1898 and gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate of North Manchuria . On December 3, 1924, the Apostolic Vicariate of South Manchuria was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Shenyang . The Apostolic Vicariate Shenyang gave on August 2, 1929 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Siping . Another cession took place on February 4, 1932 to establish the Fushun Apostolic Prefecture .
The Apostolic Vicariate Shenyang was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. raised to an archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos . On July 14, 1949, the Shenyang Archdiocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Yingkou Diocese .
