Emmanuel Benoit Desurvire (born June 7, 1955 in Boulogne-Billancourt , France ) is a French physicist .

Live and act

Desurvire received his Baccalauréat at the Lycée Claude Bernard in Paris in 1974 and graduated in 1981 with the Diplôme d'études approfondies at the University of Pierre and Marie Curie . From 1981 to 1983 he began his research at the University of Nice with the amplification of Raman fiber lasers . Then he accepted a position as a post-graduate student at Stanford University . In 1986 he went to AT&T Bell Laboratories , where he did early research on optical amplifiers doped with erbium (EDFA). Desurvire was appointed adjunct professor at Columbia University in 1990. He has been working for Alcatel since 1994 . In 1998 he completed his habilitation at the University of Nice with work at the EDFA. In 2000 he became Director of the Alcatel Technical Academy.
