The Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium is a high school in Berlin Treptow-Köpenick with a scientific profile . It is named after the mathematician Emmy Noether . The school offers, among other things, the individualization of the high school education, in which individual students have the opportunity to acquire the Abitur faster than others.

history

When in 2006 the first Protestant school in the Treptow-Köpenick district, the Evangelical School Köpenick , wanted to move into the building of the former Nelly-Sachs-Oberschule due to the good location, this meant that the Nelly-Sachs-Oberschule moved. Due to the steadily decreasing number of pupils in the Treptow-Köpenick district, the Senate decided to merge the Nelly Sachs High School with the Linus Pauling High School in Oberschöneweide . However, the building of the former Linus-Pauling-Oberschule was too small and not adequately equipped to teach all high school students there. An expansion of the building would have resulted in high costs, which is why both schools were housed in the partially renovated and well-equipped building in the Allende district .

After a short time, a school group was formed, which should deal intensively with finding a new name. Pupils, parents and teachers worked together on the project and, after careful research, presented several names, which were then reduced to five by choosing the entire school. After more than two years of naming, the school has been named after mathematician Emmy Noether since 2009 .
