The nature reserve Emscherbruch with Ewaldsee lies in the area of ​​the city of Gelsenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 38 hectare area, which covers most of the 13 hectare Ewaldsee , was placed under nature protection in 1997 under the key number GE-012 . It extends southwest of the core city of Herten and southeast of Resse , a district of Gelsenkirchen. The A 2 runs along the northern edge of the area and the L 638 road runs to the north-west. To the east, the 81-hectare Hertener Emscherbruch nature reserve extends along the L 644.
