The nature reserve Im Emscherbruch, north of the Ewaldsee, lies in the area of ​​the city of Gelsenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The approximately 31.5 hectare area was placed under nature protection in 1997 under the key number GE-011 . It extends west of the core town of Herten on the south-eastern outskirts of Resse , a district of Gelsenkirchen. The A 2 runs along the southern edge of the area and the L 644 state road to the east. The 13 hectare Ewaldsee extends to the south-east .
